Try something called a “waterless wash” using “Optimum No Rinse.” (ONR) For those times when it’s just light dust or pollen, it’s fast and avoids scratches. (Meguiar’s “Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere” is another product option but way more expensive than ONR)

Can confirm: made the mistake of writing “wash me” on the back of a friend’s filthy car... ended up paying to have the scratches buffed out. Lesson learned. (and now I detail my own car)

Fully synthetic waxes like Meguiar’s Ultimate (paste or liquid) were designed such that they can be applied in full sun. They’re often referred to as “sealants” not waxes, with “wax” referring to products that contain natural carnauba wax.

I’ve found the opposite. Keeping a car well waxed helps avoid rust from lingering water. You won’t notice - not in the first year, or maybe even the first five but it slows down the tin worm. (ditto getting salt out of the carpets... shop vac, steam clean, shampoo, dry, once a year or so)

I am absolutely not a DIYer, beyond advanced detailing (steam cleaning carpets, paint correction, two bucket wash, Collinite 845). I can change an alternator and spark plugs but when it comes to cracking an engine open to determine what’s causing an oil leak, no effing way.
