imo traffic police should not be empowered to arrest or conduct investigations, they should only be able to write tickets for traffic & vehicle violations. They should not carry a gun. Proceeds from traffic tickets should go into the local lottery so municipalities don’t rely on them for paying expenses.

Think of it this way. You can buy a smart TV, or a TV + stick now, and then in X years you buy a new stick, which you can use with either TV. It’s only really an issue if you have a still functional stick and want to buy a new TV.

TVs are user serviceable depending on what breaks.  Sure you may need more knowledge than your average joe but that’s true for most end user repairs.
