It has such an abysmal reputation that even Land Rover folks won’t buy them.

Imagine a Fusion with a liftback. Yeah, we rented a diesel Mondeo in the UK, it had a liftgate, a heavy liftgate that I managed to close on my fingers in Edinburgh and it was basically a Fusion with a liftgate that got 45 MPG
I’m in for the convertible off roader, but really the Wrangler or Bronco isn’t overly large compared to the old ones. The new Jimny might be fun if the top came off too.
also with that longer door you can chuck your coat/purse/toolbox/lunchbox on the rear seat behind you and not have to open another door. I know I rarely carry anyone other than the odd grandchild ( and I do mean odd but that’s another story) so why do I need 4 doors, four windows, four door locks, four doors worth of…
It’s not really my thing, but if you are looking for a nice land yacht this one is NP. You aren’t really going to need to do any body work, paint work, interior work, they replaced the grotty fuel tank already, if it’s running and driving it’s time to party like it’s 1979.
Ignore the plebs. You know that nothing else feels like driving a Rover. I miss that feeling and if Ford doesn’t hurry up and build my 6G Bronco I’ll be feeling it again.
If you have a Gap diagnostic tool, a good set of tools, and an appreciation of a steel fist in a velvet glove, this will be a hell of a rig. If I wasn’t waiting for a 6G Bronco I’d be very seriously thinking road trip to OR, visiting with the fam, getting a set of AT tires and heading back to the third coast via Moab.
First gear-it’s kind of the energy companies job to figure out how to deliver the energy and make those investments....but if you want to pay your own money to back up the power companies and basically pay to do their job, I’m sure the CEO’s all salute you.
We had a 1984 380SL for a good many years, bone stock, and for what is was the 3.8 V8 was a lovely motor. It had enough power to balance with the less that Sport Light (haha) chassis. Maybe a bit more power qould have been nice but it was a great car to travel the tunnel of trees with the top down on a nice day. Just…
One of the local resorters had a Jetta wagon that was given the truck treatment and it was really nicely done. Everything was right, the proportions, the actual execution, the whole package was great and it honestly looked factory.
Unless policies have changed, the baggage/aircraft servicing/fueling were done by third party service organizations that were the low bidders for the privilege. Low bidders mean low wages and they attract the low expectation low ambition crowd from the Dilligaf employment agency. Having attended high school with some…
Everyone I know who has a car they hold this special would not drive around with that dent in the tailgate. As soon as I saw that it was ND. It’s rust waiting to happen and shows a lack of pride in ownership.
“Dad” and I are probably about the same demographic and a lot of the story tracks close, as I can be a cheap ass and will endure all manner of unreasonable madness keeping the wheels on the cheap bus going round and round-so if I were looking for something under $10K, nice, maybe a bit sporty and something that “mom”…
replied wrong place nevermind!
the mid 1980's were right about when Datsun was turning to Nissan and abandoning the clever intersting cars they used to build in favor of the generic boring cars they build to this day. Save up a bit more and get a real Z, and let junior appreciate the education he’s going to get trying to flog his overpriced #3…
Cougar jumps the shark. ND
Like manufacturing jobs, we have happily exported our pollution to China. How many lithium mines are we going to actually be able to get through permitting, much less production, in 10 years or so?
One well site can do directional drilling and service 10 or so different wells from one pad. They can’t do that with a lithium mine.
I’d be more inclined to NP it with a 4.0. That 2.5 in a Wrangler was a mouse motor and I’d be concerned that the price combined with the leisurely performance of the included engine would make me regret my purchase at that price.
I’m leaning toward NP on this one. The C4 isn’t the king of the hill but the performance numbers are such that you can enjoy this machine in a royal fashion without having to raid the treasury. Body by America and running gear by Britain, it’s a grand union and a powerful ally.
