I’m going to defend the US version Ford Escort, for the time it was the best car of it’s class here in the US. Asian cars were made of compressed rust and the driving postiion was terrible, German cars were OK but expensive for what they were, GM cars were just ridiculously horrible...but the Escort was comfortable,

Is HD finally trying to earn customers rather than complacently assume that the all American crowd will keep them alive forever? Designing bikes one can ride without needing a chiropractor or a 12-pack after an afternoon on the road? Knock me over with a feather.

there’s a primarly black MC club in Detroit on Grand avenue that has plenty of HD’s parked out front.....with a lane blocked off one afternoon. Becuase they could and you don’t argue with bikers of any stripe.

Could be worse, the “sudoku” classic.

So anyone outside of the Toyota world with the sense that God gave lettuce knows this is not an outstanding value, but the name of this game is NP or ND and while I’m not buying that one someone is shaking out the couch cusions  for spare change and promising the spouse that this is *the very last* time they will beg

Robocop says NP and I agree.

They don’t. Especially school busses and smaller transports, which I always thought would make a better overlander/motorhome than a full size bus. If they put air brakes on school busses, the drivers would have to get full CDL’s with an air brake endorsement and quite a number of our school bus drivers aren’t quite up

Here you can drive pretty much anything without air brakes on a normal license.

Many years ago some dreamer managed to get some London double deckers to Wasilla, AK, and I so wanted to buy one and make a double decker camper out of it. The wife said no and threatened me with divorce over such a plan. Well she dumped me eventually anyway and now I can see I should have done it anyways, woulda got

school busses are much more available than transit busses. A lot of school districts here will retire a bus after a set period of time, typically 10 years and often they sell cheap. Transit busses get used until they are no longer econimcal to repair and then get sold at a premium compared to what they are worth.

As a reformed BMW owner, I’ve known purists who look down their noses at you for wearing First Gear or Belstaff or anything other than the official approved BMW riding apparel. Bikes like these will give them the vapours.

I want to like this, I really do-but the buy in for a 27 year old car that is as complex as this admittedly handsome beast is too high.  It might be that it’s a gatekeeper kind of price, only someone who has the means to keep it fed and watered and sheltered is going to buy it for $15k and that person is definitely

it’s a short little car with a high center of grabbity. 65 probably feels more than fast enough.

We bought our Bronco Sport from Jim Farley. He was driving a pre-production Badlands in our area and pulled into the gas station right ahead of us, the wife said “follow that car” as she had been looking at the BS on line but hadn’t seen one in person. We chatted with the driver while we were poking about and oohing

forget the rotary idea-get just about any liquid cooled 2-smoke snowmachine engine and wedge er in. Just for fun, leave the recoil starter in place and when it’s time to leave the CaC event, grab the handle and pull start your car.

I forgot about the Daewoos, those were really world class soviet style awful.

Dammmm maybe I’ll get that one and stick a motor in it. I’ve done Ranger motors before, my daughter was a Ranger kind of girl so I am fluent in them,

In defense of the HHR, the hillbilly hot rod, they were not the most brilliant vehicle but by golly they are durable as hell and don’t completely rust out under the influence of NoMi tinworm. I had one as a work vehicle and when it was replaced I bought it, the wife’s kid rolled it at 240k miles and after we got it

Tinworm is rough on our local tip of the mitt Rangers too. There’s a local CL listing for a clean 2x4 Ranger with a bad motor for $3k. Thought he was nuts but maybe I’m the crazy person now.

for a small truck that’s almost 20 years old? Dang I need to get out more.
