Sales numbers are not everything. Look at 2000s GM for an example. Sales numbers did not save it, and nor will they save it again after this recession. You need to build excitement in your brand, even with the more base models. Nissans currently are the vehicle people buy because they have to, not because they want to.

So? That hasn’t stopped others from venturing and keeping cars alive in that market. The idea that cars like this won’t sell or has to turn a massive profit is silly

I think CVTs was a great stop gap from the 4 speed autos from 15 years ago but there are 6-10 speed torque converters now and of course dual clutch.

CVTs Nissan, get rid of them. My Mazda CX-3 is more sporty than your Maxima, you have a problem.

Maybe I’m missing something, if I put down 10k so I’m not underwater, that 10k is effectively lost. If I finance a zero percent loan and put down zero dollars, I can take that same 10k and earn interest with it. At any point during the life of the loan, if I have to pay back said loan, I can use the 10k that has been

The depreciation only matters if you plan to sell the car, or if it gets totaled. GAP insurance fixes the latter problem.

This implies parents are experts. I'd rate making humans as one of my easier accomplishments (being male helps with that).

This sites insistence on hating pickups is baffling. They are truly one of the best all round vehicles out their. Carry, haul, off road, and tow, they can be had at a wide range of price points, they are usually durable enough to last longer than most vehicles, and they hold their value better most things on the road.

I still drive as much as before since I’m deemed essential, I probably save like $70 a month in gas at this point.

As someone who loves green, these charts sadden me greatly. Those poor bastards in South America don’t even have it on the chart! It’s a criminally underused colour, especially the bright shades. Extra dark forest green doesn’t count. Every car should have apple green as an option.

I’d still take toaster-shaped over fake vented, plastic clad, amorphous blobs trying to look 300% more powerful than they are. I dig the style of this this. I mean, it’s nor for THIS 44 year old guy, but the color combo alone is something different in a sea of same.  And that wraparound rear window still does it for

This is about $3-4K below current market for these. They have a following.  The only real issue with this one is resolving the sunroof.  NP for me.

While it’s not exactly “screw-it” money due to the amount of money this may cost down the road, $1500 is a great way to start if rust is low. So much you can do with this car. Personally, I’d wuss out and put the 1.8 from a miata in it (yes, I know there are V8 swaps, but I think a small displacement Mazda engine is

Worth it for the rust free body.

I don’t think any of the potential buyers for this thing are thinking they’re just going to hop-in and drive away; but it’s an excellent candidate for a weekend project. If you’ve got a couple bucks and a Haynes manual, this would be a fine opportunity to acquaint yourself with a rotary motor; NP from me.

Additional counterpoint. I daily drove RX-7s for 10 years (not even when they were brand new either) and was never left stranded by one. Yes it’s different. It’s biggest flaw is it requires an owner that understands it.

I know California is a long way from Michigan, but has anyone told David Tracy about this car yet?

Looked at pictures, saw the price, didn’t read a word of the description, went straight to Nice Price!

Wouldn’t touch this with a 40ft electric pole

You lost me at the circa-2004 Chinese chassis and body. That’s the era of Chinese motoring from which the Brilliance BS6 came and promptly crumpled into a jagged coffin after its first EuroNCAP crash test. If I absolutely had to have an EV for $6k, I’d peruse for Nissan Leafs, Smart fortwo electric drives, hell even
