I’ll take Reliability and Resale for $200 Alex!

So Hyundai cribbed luxury designs even in their concept cars?

Its also the absolute cheapest 7 passenger vehicle you can buy. For a family on a budget, it does the job.

Listen, friend.... I love a good bloated boat meme as much as the next guy....

But for the weight, those fat bastards can actually dance.

Let go of your hate.

This. It’s a “sports” car, not a sports car. It turns, fine, stops fine, goes fine, and makes a great noise, is comfortable, and looks great. It’s got everything you need for a nice ride to the movies with your partner, or you can drop the kid off at school, and maybe do an on-ramp burn out on your way to work.

Challenger is still cooler-looking and more practical (bigger, more comfortable) than Mustang or Camaro. It may lag behind both in build quality, but it’s one of my favorite currently-available-new-cars despite/because of how anachronistic it is.

We have the tech, sadly like most new vehicles, it will go towards more acceleration/power than actually making an efficient vehicle.

This is the first Corolla of the modern era that I would take over a Civic. Toyota must be doing something right, because the current Camry is the also the first Camry I would rather have than an Accord.

Most minivans can tow 3,500 lbs without an added tow package, have a 1,500 lb payload.

NY, baby, the land of tax and regulate.

Sure, I’ll just get another thing that I need to register and get inspected yearly that will take up garage/driveway space...or I could get a 2wd trucklet. Loved my old 4-banger 2wd Ranger. Got me in and out of every jobsite that the 1 ton 4wd trucks got into.  Most of those guys didn't haul anymore than I did, but my

That describes a first gen Ridgeline. 1500# payload and 5k towing on a modified Odyssey platform.

B-b-b-but muh NARRATIVE!

Provided you can get an SUV large enough. To the best of my knowledge the Suburban is at the top with ~8500lb capacity while 1/2 tons are upwards of 12,000lbs. For the vast majority of people that is enough.

At the moment this is all wishes and unicorns, but, yea, i may need to resign myself to buying something larger.

Agreed. I was just sticking the sort of 'real world' numbers out there for reference. The main point being that a manufacturer could easily transform a CUV into a mini truck and still hit the numbers I stated.

The closest thing nowadays from the global market is the mitsubishi pickup still 2.8 inch longer ,1.6 inch wider and 1.4 inch taller than a 01 tacoma double cab short bed

Touareg’s rated for 7,700lbs. You can tow well with a smaller sized vehicle, but people have a perception that to tow much, it has to be huge. I’d love a smaller packaged tow beast.

Not really a contradiction, second gen S10s did that.  5k and 1200lbs payload isn't that much.

Neutral: #3 for the cheap small pickup. I agree a Ranger derived truck would be fantastic but even the new Ranger is closing in on the size of my rusty GMT400. That’s too big for my purposes despite being extremely capable.
