In 40 years, when everything on the road is electric, and likely autonomous, someone is going to find a 2014 Corolla in a shed. Said individual will restore the car and everyone will wax poetic about how full of character that it is and how engaging it is to drive.

I clicked through to Travis’s article and I couldn’t disagree more. I owned two Corollas, and in my opinion they were cars that any discerning car nut can justly be proud to own.

Speaking from experience, everyone Jalop wants a car with “character” until they need to go to regular cancer treatments, make it to work every day in order to keep their insurance and the hundred other little things we need to do to survive in a apathetic world.

Please see my username.

All-Trac is AWD, this is 4WD and predates it.

Had one as my first car, damn things was unkillable in -45 Celsius winters in Calgary and always started. No matter how hard you punch the gas you always got 26mpg.

No, I mean the homeliest looking car of the last two decades.

A Tercel can push about 4" of snow with no trouble, especially if you have the granny gear below first. If you just spend a late night going out a few times to keep ahead of the fall as it comes, it’ll keep your driveway clear.

There’s a fair amount of video out there of 4WD Tercels going where you really don’t expect them to go, cheerfully scampering among the mud holes and rock trails alongside the “real” offroaders.  Sure, they get stuck.  Unlike the big, “real” offroaders however, a couple of strong guys can just push it loose.  Can’t do

yeah but if you buy the Velostar you don’t have to own a volkswagen product!

I just want suzuki back :(

Think of it. A Jeep Wrangler starts above $30k and actually retains its value really well, so if you wrecked it off road you would be out a ton of money.

Seriously if Beijing Auto brought the BJ40 over I’d have a very difficult time stopping myself from getting one.

But they didn’t have to rip us off. Make it like it never happened and designs are nothing. Porsche doesn’t need your love, but you treat us like a stranger and that feels so rough. No, you didn’t have to stoop so low. Have your spies collect some pictures and then apply for patents. Guess that we don’t need that,

These companies could break into the market by providing something no one else offers. Bring back a solid axle Suzuki Samurai offroader maybe? Or a mid-engine JDM-style coupe with a 1L engine? A mini-sized Kei minivan. Instead they sell crossovers puting them head to head with every other car company. Worked for Kia

I actually think it looks awesome.

That version with 4 seats would be fine with me.

I kinda like the basic one...

I was digging it in white, that Mitsubishi image with the phone, looks good
