but at higher speeds, air resistence increases, so it is possible it doesn’t decrease as much if it just had a single gear.  

For trucks, i’d say super long wheelbase reducing bumps. Also increasing ride height is directly related to the drivers perceiving they are traveling slower than they actually are.
