The factories of the 1950's and 60's are never going to happen again. A long line of workers making decent money is an accountants nightmare. Those jobs are going to be done in china for $1 an hour or be completely automated.

Cost of fuel per ton of cargo carried. When a ship is carrying thousands of tons, yes the fuel bill is astronomical. when compared to each individual item non existent. yes people will be paying more, but to the consumer shipping costs doubling from $.01 to $.02 per can (as the example above used) is negligible.
