Indeed! Better check for water damage.
Also, I see that Rob updated the location, but now Sioux Falls is in North Dakota...
Beautiful car, well executed build and something that seems like would make a great daily driver for the right kind of person.
Would you pay $15k for a 2001 SUV with 170k on a factory Diesel engine in this condition? The only correct answer is nope, so this is very much a crack pipe. Doesn’t matter that there’s an even crackier pipe out there.
That is absolutely insane. I pay under a grand per year to insure 2 vehicles in CA. Pretty easy to see the vicious cycle of insurance being too expensive leading to more people driving without insurance leading to insurance companies of insured motorists paying out tons of money under the “no fault” rules leading to…
What’s the thought process in not only pricing your almost 200k miles Camry at the very top of the NADA guide, but also TELLING everyone you’re pricing it at the very top of the NADA guide?
Following the same vein, here’s how I would rate it:
Hmmmm, I usually try to judge these based on the idea that the car is how it’s being presented and avoid judging ad wonkiness, but the complete lack of info and the weird Russian thing definitely are a red flag. The price itself isn’t horrible, but I can bump it back a model year and get something with half the miles…
Found the tricky “not a classic, but still unique and cool older driver at a decent price” sweet spot yesterday. This one arguably has more character than the Pug, but not nearly enough to justify that price. Back to the CP we go.
I thought Tesla was working on pretty much this exact thing a while back with these “stations” at highway rest stops
...when the hell was the last day it was 90 degrees out in Pittsburg?!?!?
Nah, nothing that severe. May need to wait a bit longer to get it shipped over from Europe, but since they’re common over there, not much difficulty in availability and no where near old Italian prices.
Because they were very popular in Europe, parts aren’t THAT difficult on this kind of thing. That’s what the internet is for!
For the folks commenting about the difficulty in getting replacement parts, since these were/are quite popular in Europe, getting the common bits for it wouldn’t be THAT difficult, quick check saw eBay UK full of them. Also, it’s not a super unique engine that a decent euro indy mechanic can’t handle.
Fun car with a lot of work already done that no one else is going to have? I think that’s a lot more justification than you’re giving it credit for.
Unique, still quite cool and fun, plus cheap enough to be a “drive it til the wheels fall off” candidate (and not be too upset if the wheels fall off soon). That’s a pure NP right there. Feels great to get off the crack pipe shneid!
The lack of efficient, effective, people movers is (one of) the great American failings.
I read that “beat” as essentially “never been hooned” in that context.
Perhaps the more fun question on this obvious CP... how much WOULD an NP be?
Great mods added...to a 15 year old Chrysler.
So only an extra five grand or so over what a reasonable stock example goes for to have the ride quality destroyed, performance ruined, and not have a spare after inevitably blowing out one of those ridiculous tires?!?!? Where do I sign?
