I know this post is a year old, but I am trying to figure out how to make the custom stars to do this to my gmail. Can anyone tell me if you can still do this and if so, how? Thanks!

Is this a feature that you can still use in Gmail? I can’t for the life of me find how to make a custom star or tag.
