I think the reason to make Messenger a standalone app was because they want to make the main Facebook app much smaller in size, so it can be more easily accessed in more remote parts of the world - it's all part of their strategy to target emerging markets. In that respect, it does make sense.

This is great. I'm hoping that since the Kindle Store is now carrying digital copies of comic book trades, I'll get free digital copies of those too. Especially the DC ones since they only sell individual issues on Comixology.
