You see it all the time in old TV shows and movies. An ultra rich character driving a 2002 or a 240D or an LTD. Back then, only people at a confluence of ‘car enthusiast’ and lots of discretionary spending would own a Ferrari or De Tommaso. Nowadays,  car ownership is like an arms race for certain circles.

yup. I’ll bet there is a lot of ductile or deformation fracture zone though, by how the spoke was deforming over and over.  Be interesting to see how much of the break is crystalline.

It would be neat to see the shots of the fracture. probably a combo of ductile working fracture and then shear.  

The only thing i can think of is that tension would pull apart an existing crack whereas compression wouldn’t
