You see it all the time in old TV shows and movies. An ultra rich character driving a 2002 or a 240D or an LTD. yup. I’ll bet there is a lot of ductile or deformation fracture zone though, by how the spoke was deforming over and over.  Be interesting to see how much of the break is crystalline.

It would be neat to see the shots of the fracture. probably a combo of ductile working fracture and then shear.  

The only thing i can think of is that tension would pull apart an existing crack whereas compression wouldn’t
