There is absolutely no need to use a flipper zero. Any Raspberry pi, an old android phone, or almost any hackable wifi device can broadcast a fake wifi network. There is actually no real advantage of using a flipper zero here.

My only real one of these stories is just like yours, around the same time and same price. I believe it was a ‘95 NSX with maybe 50-70k miles for around $30k. I was car shopping at the time but it was both impractical and $10k over my budget.
