I think having goofy, bumbling Clark Kent reporter, he of the bad jokes and humble farm beginnings being an actual presence in the next movie will help take away from the grit. Maybe the Superman scenes will go a little too far into "realism", but the Clark Kent scenes should be mostly fun.
