Of course I do. I am both gay and born and raised in NC. The amendment goes further than gay marriage, but if you check out the other Southern states amendments and statutes you will see that NC is catching up to them more or less.

Every other state in the South already has amendments in their constitutions banning gay marriage, North Carolina was the last holdout, so saying that NC has temporarily bested SC as the worst Carolina is a lazy, nonsensical joke.

I found the Thor movie abjectly terrible, but I completely agree that they did a novel (and awesome) thing with their attention to the female gaze and the desexualization of the female characters. I hope more movies learn how to do this and/or balance the male and female gaze.

North Carolina is a great state. This vote really sucks, but I love NC more than any other state and will continue to work to improve it.

Like merila said, Charlotte/Mecklenburg voted against the amendment and it is generally a great city that you'll enjoy. I'm sorry your impression of NC will be dampened because of this terrible vote.

Buncombe county voted against it! Also, Asheville is one of the greatest cities in the country and everyone should visit. I made delicious food from the Tupelo Honey cookbook last night!

Yeah, as a gay man I find that one extremely problematic. The only other particularly questionable one (in terms of having a negative historic lineage that I know of) is the atheism one if you click through to his site.

These are awesome, but the deism one seems a little too judeo-christian (emphasis on the Christian) ideas of god to be a universal symbol. I could be wrong, though.
