I think a lot of people are confusing Brian WIlliams with Scott Pelley or something. I'm not saying any anchor could have pulled it off. Williams has showed himself quick, witty and is probably better suited to fake news than real.

I think all his appearances on the Daily Show, as not only a guest but in comedy bits, prove it.

I wish we had seen more of his work. He was only one three episodes and never did a field piece.

Brian Williams was the most logical choice amongst the "Big Names." His news career is probably over. He was making less at NBC than CC was paying Stewart. He wants to do comedy - apparently he begged NBC to give him the Tonight Show.
