I haven’t been to the Hamptons since the early ’90’s but I spent a good deal of time there in the early ’80’s, before all the money came out East. The townies/tourist fight has been going on forever and it will never stop.

It doesn’t cost a designer $5,000 - $10,000 to make one summer gown for a premiere. This is NOT the Oscars. I’m guessing $2,000 maximum, and that’s pushing it.
