This obsession about being “productive” is silly. To be productive, the human brain needs down time. Read a book, play a game on your phone. Wander the terminal people watching. Nap in a seat. Have a sit down meal.  If your e-mail is too important to wait until the weather clears, you need to get your boss to hire…

I’ll tell you “productive”.

The right has been picking away at Roe for decades to the extent that you almost don’t need to overturn it. But it’s an immediate concern for sure as is what’s happening now in the states affecting reproductive freedom (along with racial justice, LGBTQ rights, voting, etc. that folks are rightly concerned for).

Another would impose a four-year prison sentence on immigrant parents who force their children to make extended visits to their country of origin — described here as “re-education trips” —in that way damaging their “schooling, language and well-being.”

This isn’t really surprising as the EU as a whole, while making lots of noise about being liberal and progressive by attacking other oppressive countries, is increasingly full of populist Far-Right governments.

If #selfcare was ever a radical act, it has been dead and buried since every two bit narcissist with a “following” decided to use it as a way to rebrand self-absorption and tone deafness. The idea of self care is sound. The notion that it must be discussed like it is something new is comical.

Refreshing? Ok I know Jezebel is not a feminist website in any way, shape or form, but seriously we are cheering someone on because they are talking about beauty pageants and making yourself pretty??

Its just too damned hot, can you fix that?

Yeah I read bullshit like this and think “I’ll remember this when a car full of bigots starts shouting at me sand n-word.” as I’m trying to get to my destination safely.

Yeah, this is a really privileged, I-got-mine kind of take. This just lets hateful people who are actively trying to cause you harm/pain/grief off the hook for their actions and changes nothing.

That’s an easy position to take from when you’re in a position of power. Words mean things. Words become actions. Actions have consequences, as do words.

And it’s really hard to find out what your taxes will be. Public records can show what the previous owners have been paying each year, but it might not be the same for you!
