I’m a physics postdoc, at a pretty prestigious place. It is a necessary step if you want to continue in research. It is also a miserable existence, and I would not wish it on anyone I did not actively dislike.

My cousin and her (now) husband said “no gifts” and said anyone so inclined should donate to help out with their cross-country motorcycle trip. She is much cooler than I am.
