This is why a lot of serious race cars run on alcohol: the energy density is much lower than gasoline, but you can compress the hell out of it.

You have a metal bumper on a modern car?

The one thing VW needs least right now is more bad press. 99% of owners aren’t going to bother doing anything like this, and making a big deal out of not accepting it makes them sound petty.

Thanks.

I think the bigger issue is that the shifter doesn’t stay in position.

The overall question “what is middle class” has come up a lot lately, for obvious reasons. The exact income level varies a ton by region, and by family specifics (how many kids, etc). $100k/year goes a long way where I am, but it wouldn’t be nearly as much if I lived in New York or SF.

I use living in the South. It’s basically the same “keep your car in a warm place” principle.

I was thinking of jumping ship anyway. This might just prompt me to do that instead of waffling.

That just means you can give it 10/10ths everywhere you go and never be in danger of speeding

You’ve been featured on one of the most popular, longest running TV shows of all time! What more could you ask for?

On Sunday, a friend of mine told me she was thinking of getting a chameleon because she’s sort of a lizard person. Apparently reptilians are not as mainstream a conspiracy theory as I thought. I had to send her down a long rabbit hole.

I looked at rental cars about 6 hours ago. Less than $20 a day, after including all the fees (it was $16/day base rate).

I actually may need a rental for a couple days (because my car is turning into a money pit and can’t be driven again) so I checked out what there is local to me. The cheapest thing was $20/day, and it was the only one — the rest were all at least $49/day. I can rent a car from Enterprise for under $20/day and not have

I visited Brazil in February. As far as I could tell, my local equivalents there showed up around 11 (after going to the beach), went to lunch for about an hour around 1, had a coffee break around 3, then left at 4:30-5, for a grand total of maybe 3.5-4 hours of actual work time. I’m the slacker in the office, and I’m

There’s a certain fraction of my work which could be done remotely, but the bulk of it cannot. Interestingly, the part where I’m just sitting at the computer (which could be done from anywhere) is also what I tend to start and end my day with. If I could be arriving at work 40 minutes later having already responded to

Hunters need places to hunt; Ducks Unlimited is a huge proponent of wetland conservation. This isn’t an anomaly: almost every avid hunter and fisherman I know spends a ton of time in the woods even when nothing is in season, and the most active hunter I know works for the forestry service.

He’s a narcissist. Part of NPD is seeing certain people, particularly children, as extensions of yourself. His three oldest children pretty clearly fall into this category. What that means is that he doesn’t see them as external to him. Anything they suggest is a reflection of himself, because to him, they are

I work for an agency whose new director said he’d eliminate it if elected president. Hooray!

It’s about $1k less than a Focus SE hatch. Is it comparable, or should you pony up the extra cash?
