As a reporter currently living in NC and who covered the 2016 race extensively for a small paper, I can assure that this sort of thing does not matter to the bulk of the state’s conservative voters at all.

Fair enough. That’s a fair point. 

Yeah, cant help but feel a tinge of annoyance when people try and frame these issues in a manner that ignores the obvious (the obvious being race).

Politicians have no convictions beyond a desire to get and keep power. To this end, even fascism is on the table.

A white girl using the n-word in any of its forms isn’t “at least a little bit racist.” They are explicitly and unquestionably so. No equivocation necessary.

They made sure to capitalize “Independent Consultant” didn’t they? The world of public relations is fascinating and slightly amusing, looking at it from the outside-in.

I’d like to add that the correct headline can also be applied to the white progressives who hate Democrats as well (think Splinter, Chapo Trap House). The kind who go on about economic justice but admonish minorities for driving a wedge with identity politics. They ignore the fact that the very economic injustices…
