Yeah, your father in law physically assualted you. He ruined it. Hugs to you. Nothing to him.

It really is. Reminds me a bit of a comment someone made here after some asshat wrote an article blaming feminism for the Sandy Hook shooting, because no one would have been killed if there had been MEN on campus instead of all those useless women: "There was a man there. He was the one shooting all the children."
I saw a different article that highlighted Saartije, as well as the original Jungle Fever (ewwwww) shoot, and I was wondering if anyone on Jezebel would be covering it.
Articles like this- well-researched, nuanced, adding historical context to today's topics, sharply analyzed, and well-written- are my favorite part of the Jez: The Next Generation
I'm not surprised that Lorde weighed in on the topic. This sort of exhibitionism was frowned upon back when she was a teenager.
I think it's just the perceived unnecessary-ness (new word, you're welcome) of it all, along with just the gross consumerism. It's a holiday that's supposed to be about taking time off, spending it with those you love and relaxing and being thankful. Somehow it's morphed into this mad dash to go out, trample people,…
I sort of see the point of not canceling classes when a holiday is only observed by a very small group in the student population. But they can and should make some other accommodations, such as not counting it as an absence, directing teachers not to schedule tests or other significant events on that day, excusing the…
I've been a lurking lurker who knows you're a regular commenter, & I'm curious to know if the majority of Jezebel commenters are from the NYC area. I ask because there are always tons of remarks of disbelief regarding the possibility of the existence of the Kim K. body type in nature (I've also seen the same…
Friendly reminder that the US edition of Time Magazine sees its readers as idiots and is terrified of covering any issue of substance:
Spend the money and get a glycolic peel package. Seriously. Huge night and day difference combined with improved diet and a good three step system.
Contigo Autoseal, hands down.
Lots of people at the office I used to work (engineering/construction firm) at had these. A coworker got me one for Christmas and I officially became a member of the cult for these things.
They're indestructible, mine has survived lots of drops and knocks from roof of a car onto gravel. …

I was thisclose to modifying my Forever Lazy into an Eeyore this year, but I went with something with more spiders. Now I'm glad because it means I have the ability to turn it into a walrus.
It's difficult to express how unimportant it is for the world to understand any of this.
"Well, he screamed something explicit at me on the sidewalk and I was so touched and turned on that I doubled back to talk to him and now we're a couple" said no woman ever in the history of human beings.
Sorry, what? Songs about New York City are now only allowed to be on certain specified topics? I'm all for calling artists out on failures, but this is ridiculous. "She's singing about happy things! SHUT IT DOWN."
I've written non-fiction history and I can tell you that, yup, I have had men demand primary documentation. Which my reply is, look at the back of the fucking book. THere's 6 pages. If you need more, email me and I'll give you everything I read. There's over 200 books on the list. I recommend starting with the thin…
That's the problem with being a woman who studies history (and why I quit being a history major). Male "historians" (*cough* George Will *cough*) can plagiarize, make shit up, etc. and they're a hero. Female historians open their mouths and there are twenty men yelling "I WANT TO SEE THE PRIMARY DOCUMENTATION".
As a white kid who has some small experience being a racial minority: GOOD.
99.99% sure the Lindsay Lohan tweet is a Mean Girls reference. Which is amazing.
