It is pretty common to swap the 3.0 Alfa engine used in some versions of the Milano a few years later. Assume that is what happened here. I have been looking at one of these for a while, the car looks nice, the car may be a little high, but I have mostly been looking at project cars and rough drivers under $10k. But

Now playing

No time to read through all the comments, but if it hasn’t been mentioned, the best sleeper car is of course a Nash, which put fear in the hearts of 50s parents on date night.

I stand enlightened!

You are right his car, his money he can do what he wants with it. As to why I am unimpressed:

Count me among those somewhere in the unimpressed to horrified end of the scale. Do this to a Sterling or Kelmark. I am not totally anti-swap or mod, but this seems like a waste of a good Ferrari. Also, is it just me, or do engine swaps seem much more palatable if kept in brand? A layer BMW M series six in a 3.0CS

Reminds me of the NFL, “we need to emphasize player safety and minimize the potential for CTE" and also "let's add another game to the season." I am a huge F1 fan, but even for me they could cut 6-7 races out of the season and shorten it by a couple months and I would not miss the extra races at all.

The T series were called “Midgets” through the TF, from the factory, the Midget never stuck here, but dates back to when MG made multiple sizes and flavors of sports cars ore-war. Was superfluous here in the ‘states post war.

Car I most regret selling, but glad I had a chance to own it.

I missed the call for submission—think I had a shot at making the list.

Despite the rarity this is a pretty meh car.  You won't get driving thrills or a special experience behind the wheel, you won't wow the masses with its beauty or weird funky vibe, because it has none.  Pretty generic old car, not wildly overpriced, but can't quite nice price it.

I don't think many people are cross shopping these and Miatas, unless the only criteria is "convertible", not much similarity between the cars otherwise, I think maybe people looking at an old LeBaron might be a much closer match.

While I agree the BRZ is sort of a spiritual descendent of the 240z, their are some differences. The power v. handling has already been mentioned. There is also the fact the the Z was more of a middle class or mid-range sports car, you could still get an MG Midget, Triumph Spitfire, Fiat 850 Spyder, MGB, in those days

And there are a lot of people that didn't have the money.  When I was young kids that didn't go to college went out and got manual labor jobs, factory, construction, and bought new cars pretty much out of high school, who can afford to do that today? (Without mommy and daddy's help?).

The country club put on the event and promoted the prize, that seems undisputed.  The correct play is going after the country club and letting them and the dealer duke it out on who pays for the truck.  In the meantime, do all you can to crucify both in regular and social media (apparently already happening).

I was hell no when I saw it, I would have to undo the stance and paint it, not so much because of the condition, but because of the color. The interior is much better than I thought, but it would take a slightly better price and either a stock suspension or a better color in addition to the lower price to get it into

An SUV used to match it's name and were bought as capable off roaders, now the majority are bought as big passenger vehicles with plenty of room for child seats and sports gear.  The definition has changed over time with the market.

I have kind of wanted one of these for years, and have shopped for them quite a bit. This looks like a good price even before the post covid market bump, even from a private party. Almost looks to be too good to be true. Definitely nice price as described, wouldn’t be surprised if there are some clunks in the

Absolutely, there is a point where the pleasure becomes pain. That’s where you have to remember your safe word “theresnosuchthingasacheapjag”...

There is nothing, nothing, like the smell of an old British car interior. My wife calls it musty, I call it heaven. Old leather and wool and whatever they stuffed the seats with, a little oil and grease from the mechanicals, and I swear you can also smell the hint of early fall leaves, but maybe that is just memories

Thanks for the article, looking forward to more.  Almost took a 1500 mile road trip to see the vintage races at the Glen this year, but work got in the way.
