Honestly, this is the most common strategy I’ve seen for dealing with powerful, difficult people in corporate America—particularly men. I don’t like it, but I recognize it.

Being a black girl in the school system (anywhere really) is a double whammy- black and female. But these dress codes are also classsist as hell- if you add low income on top of all that?

Honestly, Bush’s advice should have been directed at boys and men as well. Yes, women should be able to choose work or relationships or both. And women, who have historically been discouraged from prioritizing work, would benefit from an extra nudge in that direction. And also, yes, men should be able to choose work

I lived my early childhood in north TX. I totally relate to this.

This. We’re walking the line between making our kids aware of our values, and trying to make sure they don’t hate their Trump-loving grandparents. If he gets re-elected, my oldest will be 12 in 2024. I expect there will be some difficult conversations about this.
