Waititi’s sense of humor works fine when aimed at something like a Marvel movie. Since his shtick is basically winking at the audience that what’s going on is ridiculous. Deflating the self-seriousness of the Thor movies is fine, it actually turned it into something watchable.

I’m not so sure that the US is exporting it; I think similar circumstances in the US and Europe are bringing out similar responses.

The AV Club posting these kind of stories is the leading cause of smug.  It is easy to find anything you want on twitter or in you tube comments, so when they need a story, it is always there to write.  I think they are hungover from the long weekend so we get this.
