3800 was a decent engine. Fairly durable and cheap to fix because it was used on pretty much every full-size GM car in the late 90s, early 00's. I used to love driving supercharged Grand Prixs. Torque everywhere! But if you buy an F-body and don't get an LT1 or LS1 you deserved to be laughed at.
Fox body Mustang. Old, cheap, make good noises (provided it's a 5.0), can be had with a manual and have a ton of room under the hood for you the learn to wrench with the ample aftermarket parts available.
