I read the book both for pleasure and then as an assigned reading in a literary theory course. It’s a wonderful book, PD James, while mostly a murder mystery author, really did an excellent job with this one. The movie was only okay, though I love Julianne Moore and Clive Owen.

I’ve always thought Melanie did not truly understand the trip she was making, thus the jacket. I feel the same about almost all of her trips, she believes they are to highlight HER, not the cause. Like her trip to African countries was just about showcasing her racist wardrobe.

I’m not a man so I don’t know the thinking involved here, but I cannot imagine any reason that justifies sending out pics of your junk to anyone. Nor can I imagine a woman asking for them, affair or no affair. Male persons, please advise. 

I suspect it didn’t go down exactly as she said, which is why she minimized it and didn’t talk about it at first. Since the woman is prepared to challenge her in court, I guess we’ll find out.

How soon some forget that the very streets they claim as cred as the ones that gave them a home, provided food, heat, and schooling, paid by taxes. I too came from the projects (well, we lived there for two years) and I donate and give back because I’m not sure where else we would have lived if not for there.
