Have the Astros won the World Series already? Did the Nationals decide to just forfeit in light of the inevitable fulfillment of the prophecy?

I work in NYC and Friday a large chunk of my office was talking baseball and commiserating about the Yankees. As a Marlins fan I brought up the fact my team has lost 203 games over the past two season, so really you guys don’t have it bad. A co-worker brought up the “this would be the first decade since the Ottoman…
Cool story, and it sounds like your grandpa has lived a full life. All the best to him.
That is such a weird but spiritually satisfying stat I had to go look it up.
I hope you do! Then we can be spared your meandering self-congratulating babbling about how your team’s championships are just so much better than others’.
You sound like a moronic homer.
We made it through a decade without a Yankee championship! Rejoice!
Nobody stays alive to keep watching the winningest team ever keep winning, I call bullshit. Your grandfather is alive just to cheer against that immigrant Altuve, i bet
That was incredibly savvy! As a baseball fan, how do you not instinctively lunge for the ball there?
Obviously Altuve will dominate headlines, but how about the defense from the Astros fielders?! This Michael Brantley double play is just absurd:
Fans cleared out of the way, but Springer came up juuuuust short on the leap.
I’m always shocked when the camera pans the crowd at Yankee Stadium how many guys look in serious need of a throat punch, it’s quite a startling percentage.
The Yankees won’t be in the World Series, and all is well with the world once more.
We want to extend a nation-wide heartfelt gratitude to Houston and D.C. for saving us from a Fall Classic befouled by the Yankees and Cardinals. The Yankee team is stocked with actually decent men, save for the petulant and perfidious Sanchez. For one example, Judge is not only a great player but seems like an…
Fandom doesn’t matter when they use numbers and facts. Also, an easy schedule last year? They played the Cowboys twice, the Rams, the Vikings, the Colts and the Jags, Saints, Texans. Rams, Jags, Vikings, Texans and Saints were all playoff teams the year before. Rams, Saints, Colts, Texans, Cowboys (x2) all went to the…
Any team the Pats beat are awful. Don’t you know anything? If the best team in the league beats you, it means that you are so fucking bad that they shouldn’t even count it as a win for the Pats. The only team that counts if they beat is the Chiefs, but even then it should only count as a tie.
GOD! It’s like you don’t…
Isn’t the reason these teams screw up with maddening frequency because the Patriots make you beat them with the weakest parts of the team? He actively game plans to take away your strengths so the opponents need to beat him with their weakest links who are much more prone to making mistakes. So if you have a strong…
I mean, I think he is. I've seen and heard multiple interviews from former players taking about how he game plans things in the first half that bait opponents into committing mistakes later in the game. Obviously it doesn't always work. I wish I had an example off hand.
While I get that here it is used more in jest, I am always by the basic concept of the argument being that it isn’t the Patriots being good, but the other teams being bad. Just the length the arguments can go in an effort to try to avoid giving NE credit even when they are beating good teams.
Say what you want about the ‘Skins, but they managed to knock Brady out of the game in the 4th quarter.
