That’s a valid position to have (although it’s a common practice throughout the biotech industry). It should be noted, however, that Monsanto’s reputation of suing farmers for accidental GM seed contamination is entirely undeserved.

That doesn’t actually happen. Drive through seeded farmland sometime, and you’ll see an incredibly wide variety of wheat, corn, soy strains and varieties planted. Have you ever even been on a farm? Not only are the crops rotated, the varieties are too.
Not really. Everyone patents crops. Hybrid apple strains (like the honeycrisp) are patented. Wheat, corn, etc. are patented. Companies who spend whackloads of money on genetic research and engineering deserve renumeration for their investment.
We’ve been patenting new plant varieties since 1930; this is not a practice unique to monstanto or to GMOS.
And there are bunch of people starving to death throughout the world that would eat just about anything not to starve to death.
Well-fed people are the ones who have the free time to protest like that.
The only person who knows frustration more than a GMO scientist who works hard to create a better crop to be able to feed hungry people more efficiently is a vaccine researcher who watches his work ignored by the fools who refuse to take advantage of it.
