Lies My Teacher Told Me was one of the best books I read in high school. My mistake was, in my excitement, showing it to my AP USH teacher.

Especially given that the FBI right wing terrorism taskforce was disbanded and the last Homeland Security meeting (which happened after the most recent bouts of terrorism) was only focused on the ‘caravan’. Oh yeah, even local cops in the most blue areas of the country side with the fascists over Americans.
Always funny that so many Beto critics harp on the fact that “he’s not mexican,” while Ted Cruz tries so card to be as Anglo as possible
Yep, yep, yep. And the press has played the part of the friend “who doesn’t want to take sides.”
I am really, really hoping you are correct.
It does, I was just unsure about how much his bravado statements would go down in court compared to a signed executive order as proof of abusal of rights.
Lawsuits are not restricted to only seeking damages for injuries already sustained. From the article above:
You’re basically right; the “standing” (the concept that one needs to have been injured to bring a lawsuit) is incredibly weak here. You can certainly bring a lawsuit challenging access to the border and to asylum, but doing so with plaintiffs who have yet to be denied access is far more difficult. For instance, if…
Senator (R-Calgary) Ted Cruz bitches about immigrants.
Ah ok. I hadn’t realised he’d issued a formal policy on it which could be blocked like they did with the ban on travellers from certain Muslim countries.
It’ll save time later, and the judge will know it. Since they’re asking for what’s basically an injunction, the premise is they’re going to suffer immediate harm, so I’m guessing the plaintiff’s attorney is looking to file it and get it on the docket, with an eye to getting a stay until the migrants arrive.
This pretty much sums up the current state of Trumpism...
If only there were, say, an 80-page document clearly setting forth the legal theories upon which the suit is premised. But I guess we’ll never really know.
This isn’t a defence of Trump’s disgusting policies but I’m confused as to how people can sue a country they aren’t in for an act that hasn’t taken place yet.
Damn right! -and great therapy as well. Monty Python is my goto if I’ve allowed myself to get too agitated by news to sit still and read a book
Tim Heidecker
it is frustrating, especially as i am native american. The only problem is that our headdress isn’t seen as religious, so they compare it to someone wearing a baseball cap or something similar.
The rest of the frustration is Kavanaugh already starting in on arguments that make it seem like he’s psychic, and doesn’t…
I’d add Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz’s An Indigenous People’s History of the United States to that list as well.
