Yeah, it was totally awesome and absolutely unexpected. The trooper just casually told me he’s gonna arrest me due to my paper plates (on my just acquired 996). I was dumbfounded, laughing as if he was making a joke. He got angry. Then a local stepped out of a pickup and told the trooper to head off.
He did.

I got out of dodge by the most direct route home, and stayed right at the speed limit until I was in NH. Probably called myself out MORE doing that though, LOL.

Yup, I’ve had a highway trooper threaten to arrest me at a gas station in MA while driving through it with my temp-plated newly purchased used car.

Another local with a heavy Boston accent gave the trooper a mouthful and he eased off me.

It’s not remotely anecdotal. Multiple studies have shown that SUVs are more likely to flip, due to their height, and that you are more likely to die in a roll over accident.

Further proof SUVs/trucks are simply too big. They’re extremely rollover-prone, and will flip over in accidents that a normal sedan would stay firmly planted.

I last drove a GTI around 2016 and it was way too insulated for my tastes. I didn’t get enough noise and vibrations to give me the level of driving excitement I felt it should have.
