I think she assumed the American electorate was reasonably intelligent and would be swayed by logic, reason, preparedness, etc. A devastating miscalculation.

It felt like every Trump gaffe, all 11,0000 of them, barely moved the needle, while any time Clinton stumbled a little bit, it was a huge swing in Trump’s direction. Almost as if voters just needed a reason, any reason, not to vote for her.

So I think a) you need a clear, defined message, and a simple one. And b) you need someone who—and I hate to say this—but you need someone that doesn’t have as much history and baggage that they cart with them onto the campaign trail.
