Anecdotally, it totally makes sense. My husband’s social group drives down to upstate New York every year but they’ve decided it’s not worth the potential hassle.

Anecdotal, but I’ve seen this phenomenon in real-life. Our sixth graders had gone on a trip to Vermont every June for the last decade. Canadian organizations have already cancelled events and trips involving travel to the US - including the Ontario school board and Girl Guides of Canada. I personally opted to pay more to avoid a plane change in New York and instead fly with a brand name carrier on my vacation this year.
