Definitely my experience as a child of two teachers.
Same here. My mom goes to school at 6 am and leaves around 5 pm most days. Plus Sundays where she goes in to set up her class for the week. And she buys her own paper towels, soap, and copy paper.
Yeah, I get angry when people say that teachers only work five hours a day and have summers off. A friend of mine easily puts in 10+ hours a day and doesn’t get a full summer off between curriculum meetings and workshops.
Additionally, teachers buy all the stuff for their classes out of their own pockets. Give these people a break right?! I’m not a teacher but my sister in law teaches special ed for kids with downs, ASD etc, and I see how much she does for them. I know she gets paid well but she never stops working!
I have four parents (divorce + remarriage = 4 parents) who are teachers, I feel this so much. I spent so many weekends at school with them because my parents needed to go in and do something, grade, lesson plans, lab prep, school plays, sports coaching, concerts, etc and there wasn’t childcare on the weekend. I…
Yeah, I can’t see Clinton being carted off. The only time I’ve seen people get jailed for mishandling classified information is when they leak it to foreign governments. Once in a while you’d also see someone get caught leaking to the press without the blessings from above, and they might come under prosecution too.…
PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE.
I’m having a minor meltdown. I may or may not have audibly gasped.
THIS WAS ME AT MY DESK!! I’m so glad my boss isn’t in yet!
Yes. This. Just posed on Facebook with the comment “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas”
PUT YA HANDS UP IF YOU’RE A SINGLE LADY WHO SUPPORTS POLICIES THAT BENEFIT SOCIETY IN GENERAL RATHER THAN JUST A FEW
Funny how the agenda of single women consist primarily of policies that benefit society in general rather than just a few...
You will get piled on, but I agree. I didn’t see anything shocking about her assessment that young women tend to more subservient to men. Like...that’s how it goes. It takes some time to even notice the sexism in our world. You have to work awhile before you feel it. Have a couple crap relationships before it clicks.…
After TAing more than a dozen classes, I wish I could say I was even a little bit surprised by this. Moderately prepared male students speak up more than the highest-achieving female students, and then other students assume they must know what they’re talking about or they wouldn’t volunteer so much. Exceptions…

Well, that’s not kosher! ;) The agonizing days of having to choose between pastrami and cheese are long gone for me though. I relocated outside of Philly and there are two good places for bagels - one kosher, one able to produce the deliciousness that you describe.
It still doesn’t compare to NY, but try Bullfrog Bagels. They’re based on H street but you can get them a few places around the city. Best bagels in DC, hands down.
REMEMBER THE WEST WING WHEN THAT CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE WOMAN WAS TALKING ABOUT “NEW YORK SENSE OF HUMOR” AND SHE REALLY MEANT “JEWISH SENSE OF HUMOR”
