Just wanted to say thanks for nod towards the Kessenich book. I hadn't heard of it, but just 'wasted' several hours on my e-reader thoroughly enjoying both his devotion to the series and obvious snark with how it turned out. I would have loved to have read his review of the second movie…

Brilliant. You do that and in the meantime I'll let women know that continued unwanted attention is actually very funny, despite what they're feeling.

Many things that were previously regarded as funny are no longer - blackface, gay bashing, even attempted rape (see Back to the Future). Why is it not time to call time on this particular one? Evolution is not the same as policing. What are you concerned will happen? Fabulous comedy is still being made. I promise

Exactly. And commentators who think it's only regarded that way if the perpetrator isn't good looking are searching for ways to justify this trope. If you've ever been stalked, aggressively pursued or otherwise harassed by someone who won't take no for an answer or think it's some kind of female fantasy to be pursued,

This isn't about people being perfect. It's about sexual harassment not being funny.

Peep Show! Peep Show! Peep Show! Wahoo. Thought the eating of dead dogs and urinating in churches had scared off the reviewers. Also excited for 30 Rock completeness and while I've seen West Wing more times than I care to contemplate, AV Club reviews would be eagerly anticipated. I've never seen Friday Night Lights -

Not sure about much cooler, but my younger brother got me into Bright Eyes.
Oh, and my older and much more worldly cousin introduced me to the literary powerhouse that was Sweet Valley High. Quite the eye-opener back in 1985.

This is a great piece Genevieve - well done. B99 is a good show and so refreshing in many ways, including aspects of its treatment of its female characters. But this is definitely a weak point and I'd like to think the show is better than this.

Romantic losers can be funny. Creeps are not.

Says the voice of someone who has been let down by TV too many times to count… Fair enough. But I think there has been a very deliberate decision to show Peralta is capable of growth and maturity in the past few episodes, and I'd like to think they'll not go back on that.

Actually I think it's being done fairly realistically. Sometimes people like people they work with who are already in relationships, or only realise they do when they're suddenly unavailable. What I like about the way B99 is treating it is that there is no stalkerish behaviour. No weird declarations. No sabotaging of

That is no one's fantasy.

I've never seen an episode of Veronica Mars. In fact I thought it was the same show as Buffy which I've also never seen. Was very surprised (brought on by all the coverage of the film) to discover they are not the same shows and star two different actresses. Possibly showing my age there.
I was travelling a lot long

Hulu, I think. I'm in a country (NZ) with very few legal ways of watching tv online so I'm not familiar with all the options but Hulu comes up as a source. I purchased the DVDs from Amazon UK and watched it on a multi-region DVD player.

Watch Green Wing instead. Episodes is okay - but Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan are brilliant together in Green Wing.

I agree. I kept reading this snarky piece expecting it to at least cover fairly all of the stuff Spacey has been doing over the past decade or so, and doing very successfully in the UK. Confining it to a parenthesis acknowledgment is astonishing. Implying he's gone through a slump, making poor career choices and

Good tip. Not sure Gillian Anderson should be so flattered by a Scully connection.

There has been a very definite shift towards making his character much more than the class clown. It's great and Samberg can do subtle much better than I would have expected. I really liked the bits in this episode about him having "read" the earlier chapters in Charles' life. It was nicely done. At this point I think

Didn't 'Mad About You' run for years and years about a happily married couple only to flash forward 20 years and have them separated in the finale? I have only a loose memory of it but it struck me as similar unhappy ending to what you're describing here.
