@Versprung: It looks like he cut the wheel well out in the back a bit and then it fit, then he did some good body work so its hard to see, the only clue is the one pic where you see he chopped out the civic rear wheel area. Nice job! Its inspiring, there are so many cars where I wish I could change the drive train!

@$kaycog: Yes in Japan they have elaborate systems because of the space constraints in Tokyo. I lived there for a little while, my wife is Japanese. Sometimes you can't see where the cars go, there is a little turntable thing and it goes in and disappears!

@verdegrrl: Well it isn't a really hard build, but some automotive knowledge is of course recommended. Although I am an engineer so you can check out some web pages people have on the subject and judge for yourself. Its hard to say a lot here but there are some great sources out there:
