We each have our own separate bank accounts, with a joint account for joint expenses, with a joint credit card (for the rewards). We have a spreadsheet budget, and every month we both pay into the joint account the amount needed to cover the expenses listed in the spreadsheet.
"What are you wearing?" also seems to get rid of them quickly, for some reason.
My ISP has a "test my line" button in their client backend. I understand the results like the attenuation and SNR (thanks to your night school), but what about the "DSLAM" results - I can't find guidelines on acceptable numbers for those...
We've found that Dropbox on one specific computer in our small office drops our speeds from about 6Mbps to 0.05Mbps, even if we switch on bandwidth throttling on Dropbox.
Doesn't seem to work in South Africa either - enabled TunnelBear but Play Store apps are still unavailable in my country - am I doing something wrong? Is there some other setting I need to turn on?
nvm - my packages weren't properly updated...
Do you have to add a specific repo? I can't find it...
@vogonpoet +1 for worst votes :) I'd vote GoDaddy - their user interface is so cluttered and awful, and their help KB is so atrocious, I have to Google to find out how to do anything on their system
@ukuleledan Just FYI, Cloudflare doesn't work very well on continents where they have no data centre (eg, Africa) - using them actually slowed my sites down, and Cloudflare advised me to wait until they got a data centre closer to me.
VOTE: Dreamhost
I live with the standalone GTalk app open on my desktop, and/or IMO running on my iPhone. Couldn't live without chat!
@nikifm2007 Very cute indeed!
@JCulp yes, he got a lot of slack from his friends for using Comic Sans :)
My husband proposed by spoofing my DNS records and serving up a copy of Google's home page with a custom "Google Doodle" that turned the "o" into a replica of my engagement ring. The "I'm feeling lucky" button directed me to look behind my monitor for the ring. Pic here: [www.piratewedding.co.za]

Now, how do you keep yourself from being distracted by Lifehacker articles? I sometimes find large chunks of my day taken up by reading LH. Cool for you guys, and I don't normally regret the articles I end up reading (they make great dinner conversation topics), but sometimes I will look up and hours have gone by…

I like the idea of learning carpentry and housebuilding - its a skill that will come in very handy come the Zombie Apocalypse...
I know this is a bit old now, but I also had the kernel panic problem. I discovered two things: first, the ISO I downloaded loads in 64-bit mode by default. So instead of just typing in -v, I used -v arch=i386 to force it to load in 32-bit mode.
