I forgot to mention my favourite dramatization, Samuel Richardson’s Clarissa, with Richard Armitage. Not taking away anything from the book, but it is very, very, very long. And the dramatization, although it bends the plot and story to fit modern sensibilities, is so worth the listen.

I love audiobooks, but the ones that have a lot of characters and conflict give the actors a chance to shine. My current favourite is Dracula, read by my boy Richard E. Grant.

I’m torn between his version of The Screwtape Letters, and the dramatized version by Andy Serkis. Both are stunning, and this is coming from an atheist.
