Politically, I loathe the entire Bush family (they along with Reagan really got the ball rolling that led to Trump), but I’ve heard nothing but good things about them personally. I highly recommend the book The Residence, about the White House domestic staff. Every single person interviewed absolutely adores the Bush

I feel really bad about it but I had the same thought. I mean, we can boycott watching the inauguration all we want to hope for poor ratings but GHWB would really be a true American hero if he were to completely steal the spotlight that day. Maybe he’s got it all worked out, “Now, just as the motorcade makes its way

I agree about their having a special bond. I think it’s the same way with Supreme Court Justices. Otherwise, how do you explain how RBG could be such good friends with Scalia?

92 is a good long life. I hope he recovers as well, but it would be fitting if he passed away on Friday to overshadow the inauguration. A final “fuck you” to Donald Trump if you will.

I hope I don’t sound too obnoxious eye roll, but I have a few mutual friends with the Bush family and they have all talked about how lovely the Bush’s are (obviously they’re friends with them so they’d say that). However, they’ve also mention George H.W. and George W.’s hatred for Trump.

The winner? He wore socks with his own face! Boom.

Yep. Between this and the Bush daughters’ letter to Sasha and Malia I’ve been having a lot of feels on behalf of the Bush family lately. It’s Bizarro World up in here.

He’s always struck me as the epitome of class.

Trump’s note 4 years from now will have to be dug up from the irradiated dust heap that was the former United States’ seat of power.

I do that too, it adds a little color and fun. I think Bush started doing this after he left office. I always kinda liked him...sure he is a republican but he seemed fairly genuine and trying to do what he thought was right unlike the current crop of republicans.

Uh, hes not dead.

Politics aside, I do send him my best wishes. I also feel for W, who I’m sure would rather spend time with his father than be at the inauguration. Because real talk, “responding well to treatments” at age 92 is pretty guarded language.

I’m not old enough to remember the details of Bush’s legacy....but this letter will always be a way of looking back to a time when things weren’t as they are now.

I didnt agree with a lot of his policies but he was an intelligent President.

“He will be the only living former president not attending Donald Trump’s inauguration”

Personally I think there’s a middle ground between thinking she belongs in jail for 35 years and thinking she shouldn’t have been found guilty. I disagree with her methods and don’t think she acted out of pure good intention but I do think 35 years is excessive especially considering the conditions in which she was

I think Obama secretly likes to troll his opponents in very clever ways. When Scalia died, Republicans immediately said they would not vote on his nominee. So Obama went and nominated a centrist (if not somewhat right leaning) jurist to the bench. And now Assange... I’m sure there are other examples, but I can’t think

No, there are no pending charges against Assange in the US. He’s justified spending the last few years in an embassy instead of facing Swedish authorities over his multiple sexual assault charges there by repeatedly insisting Sweden will hand him over to the US despite the US not charging him with anything, so at this

Don’t worry, I’m sure Trump will pardon Assange.

It’s not clear if Assange will stick to that pledge.
