Big time question I'd like to throw out. I don't understand physics, as I'm about make abundantly clear, but....

@ortizlgnd4: but it does open up the likelihood a great deal. Up to now we've kinda assumed life would be similar to us. NASA been sinking the funding into Astrobiology for years now to find better examples of where to look when we're off planet, this is a big part of the payoff (but not the only cool finding).
@blash: I guess that's kinda the point, so far most people argued that carbon based was the only way. Theoretically possible vs having an actual example is a pretty cool difference.
