So people were more excited to see Fox vs. Fox matches ad nauseum than a more diverse finals consisting of Olimar, Rosalina, Sonic, and Diddy? Mind boggling.

In the fall of 1996 every kid wanted to get their sweaty mitts on a shiny new Nintendo 64, and apparently we weren't the only ones. Deep in the bowels of Wrinkly Kong's save cave, players can find a familiar system and a familiar tune. While Wrinkly can be found both napping and getting her sweat on, it's only when…
Am I the only one that wants a new Donkey Kong 64-type of game? :(
I still have my snes and this game. It stand among my favorite snes titles ever. Super metroid, Mario rpg, megaman x/x2, dkc3
Interesting piece. My friend and I are huge fans of the series and play it whenever we get together, but we always try to stay away from DKC3. We both just dislike it in comparison with its predecessors, but I'm happy to hear the alternate opinion.
I still prefer Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2's soundtracks over 3.
I disagree with this article. The first two games had (and still have) this indescribable magic to them. The way the graphics came together with the music to create the atmosphere was amazing. While in turn the 3rd game seemed less developed. The music had this very basic instrumentation, rather bland graphics, and…
Thank God I was able to buy Wii version of the trilogy on Wii Shop Channel before they took them away (pre 2009?10?). Then I transferred my Wii data onto Wii U afterwards. But I think DKC3 was indeed better than the overrated DKC2 in terms of level experimentation and bosses. Remember "Squirt's Showdown"?
You spelled DKC 2 wrong, heh funny that.
After the critical and commercial success of the initial Donkey Kong Country, Nintendo commissioned the fine folks at Rareware to produce two more titles in the series. Over the following few years Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble rounded out the original DKC…
Man, I got to a lightning level at the very end of this game and I just can't beat it. This is tied with Tropical Freeze as my least favorite DKC games.
I was starting to think I was the only one who thought DKC 3 was the best. The DKC Returns games are great, but they draw too much from the first game, and not enough from the superior later 2, specifically the 3rd.
I loved this game, but have always been afraid to admit it because everyone I ever knew hated it, comparing it to the infallible DKC2. But this was such a breath of fresh air— I go back and play it through to completion about every 3 years. A very creative platformer.
Wow, is Kotaku provoking on purpose? Cause this is the first time I saw someone say it's the best DKC ever. And nothing against DKC3... but DKC2 is far superior music and setting wise.
The series revitalized a classic villain as a hero. It boasted 3D-esque visuals in a market of predominantly 2D games. It had a swinging soundtrack so catchy that I bet you've already begun to hum the theme.
You misspelled Diddy's Kong Quest GBD.
Nah, I like DKC1 more.
The SNES that I played as a kid has been sitting at home while I'm at college. My parents have held onto it b/c they love Tetris Attack, but after many long years, they'll soon be sending it to me. I'm super excited to pick up DKC from Ebay.
This game. This game, you guys.
