Indeed. And it is actually a remake of a previous movie, not of the novel. And a far better movie than the original, which is basically your average adventure/western movie from the '40, with hilariously datated costumes.
It should have been mentioned.

Also Profumo di Donna (Scent of a Woman) and L'Ultimo Bacio (The Last Kiss) may say the same thing.

There is also an Italian movie (La Decima Vittima) with the same premise of both films and also pre-dates the others, as if was made in the sixties.

I thought they would nominate it once they started with old classics remakes. Never watched the original version though, I know that pretty much everyone says is not so good (and is hard to win again Bogart and Huston at the top of their game).

There is no way that The Birdcage is a better movie than La Cage aux Folles based on the perfomances of the actors. Tognazzi is fantastic in the role (like always), Lane is just a pale comparison.

Yeah, only the original Ghostbusters was a personal idea that Ackroyd developed for years while this one seems simply a lazy money-grabbing remake with the female cast as its main difference while everything else is exactly the same.
