@waffles: That is very true. When we encode (learn) information, we are not only learning the information we are reading, but also everything going on around us, including sound and our surroundings. This leads to contextual effects. I.e., we recall information best in the environment that we learned said information…
These kinds of claims really burn me. There are only a handful of studies done in this area of cognitive research that can at best claim mixed results. I wish companies and marketers would not jump the gun on this and rip off consumers.
