[SPOILERS]

Because the Knight has no will of its own. That’s the whole point. The only reason it can accomplish the ‘true’ ending (or the ‘bad’ ending) is because it is truly empty, not because it acts in defiance of an imposed purpose. It didn’t leave Hallownest because it rejected the Pale King’s plans or something

“The ending you get without it is extremely dissatisfying.”

Speak for yourself. I think it’s the best ending from a storytelling perspective, as it is perfectly thematically appropriate given the game’s story.

No, it’s not a perfectly happy ending with all the loose ends tied up. But you accomplish your purpose. And

If you only just got the dash ability, the game finally just started to open up big time for you. The combat, movement and exploration just get better from here.

“I like to refer to the movement as cult-lite because you’re not forced to stay in it and it’s not really evil, but they know all the cult tricks to suck people in and take their money.”

There is plenty of reason to dislike this point of comparison. . This is an amazing manga. Everything Naoki Urasawa has done before Billy Bat is stellar. Monster and 20th Century Boys are also worth checking out (for sure if you liked Billy Bat, and even if you didn’t, they are worth it - I love all three but did not like Billy Bat).

Sorry I didn’t catch your reply. I think I’d recommend De Grønne Slagtere (The Green Butchers). If you don’t mind especially black comedy, I can also suggest Adams Æbler (Adam’s Apples) or Blinkede Lygter (Flickering Lights). There’s also Mænd og Høns (Men & Chicken), though I haven’t seen it.

“The dumb brother making one dumb selfish decision after the other, I was pissed by the end and felt he got exactly what he deserved.”

Ironically, Mads is frequently cast in Danish comedies as some form of idiot/man-child, which, frankly, fits the quote exceedingly well (in contrast to Hannibal’s cultured and controlled psychopathy).

How is Texhnolyze not on this list?!

Not worth it.
