He's the 1 I understand. He's the safety valve, and disowning Trump early could very well have sparked yet another revolt against congressional leadership, and Trump's famous pettiness would have meant the Trump versus Republican party battles would have taken center stage instead of being a side show.

This is not 1 of those directors that's merely "good for you," like roughage. His work will truly grab you by the collar and force your attention on important things.

I really tried to give pre-Creed Rocky movies a shot for the supposed exhilaration of the fight scenes, but I could never get past Rocky walking chin first into knockout blows for an entire fight. I don't need a realistic tussle, but I also don't want the boxing equivalent of James Bond running screaming into open

Well, historical nothing. They really are useful for understanding countries not directly affected by the European Enlightenment and for analyzing people (both like myself and unlike myself) who have a bone-deep need to be an actor for God's will in the world.

WCW churlish douche into conspiracy theorist will never be topped and is the image I have of "Chris Jericho" in my head, but this is the 1st or 2nd best WWE version there has been. He's not trying to do everything, just peaking at the things he's doing.

I would say it's not a very broad year for music (and I do scour what's made everywhere as much as I can), but the depth of our "leading musicians" has been a treat. I've never bought into "cultural tumult creates the best art," but, you know, I'm open to it this year.

"Super-nice" is pushing it, but, yeah, it's closer to "going up north" than it is "survivalist." I think music writers think Medford is, like, the open prairie instead of nice but nondescript. The guy was basically living normal small town life, just distraught and sick.

I don't object to Steven's review, but I think he burned up too many words on the preface and this album comes across as novelty rather than something significant and/or thoughtful. "Bon Iver Goes Electric!" "Local Wisconsin Man Imitates Kanye West."

And they all have hilarious and unique personalities that helps them stand out from their more awkward or anonymous contemporaries. I DO think they're the best electropop/chiptune band, even recorded, but I admit it's them being people I'd like to be friends with that makes me see them every time they're in town.

At heart, he is a passionate nerd, not the voice of the common man. I appreciate that stuff for the same reason.

I got tired of the satire and rehashed beats of The Colbert Report by week 2, but I was so pleasantly surprised in later years when the show was silly and weird. I gather most people here want Colbert to hammer their enemies and then chat with actors, but I'd rather him bring back his goofy risks (which I thought his

Well, I would agree even more so. While part of this review pans it for being a poor narrative and worship experience, part of it is panning for what it is supposed to be. Asking for conflict in a communal, religion-tinged concert film is like asking for more jokes in a Terrence Malick film or wondering what It

She has huge charisma, she's both attractive and interesting-looking, I like her voice choices, and she's a step above a lot of the people doing her material. I get it!

I really do want her to succeed, but there is no reason she should be releasing 2 specials in 2 years, especially when her joke writing is her weakness. Sadly, her fans enjoy the catchphrases, recurring bits, and act outs, so I don't think she'll be improving any time soon. https://www.instagram.com/i…

As is most everything he's done.

Aw, man, knowing Giraldo's and Patrice O'Neal's worldviews, I wish they were alive for this one.

I tend to hate when people try to analyze that sort of thing, but I'll join. If you've seen elsewhere, her standard responses are scoffing, eye-rolling while adjusting her posture, and leaning in to camera while talking over her counterpart.

I tried not to be disappointed that Carr's (and to a lesser extent, Boyle's) specials this year were weaker, because it was obvious that his crowd interaction was the strongest bit. That's a total flip from his strong, standalone jokes earlier in his career, so a roast (combining the 2) is perfect for him.

1. You're probably right.
2. You are not smug about it, which is the real victory.
