The WSJ is only wrong in terms of their rationale.

As a fan of GM’s Volt and Bolt, I would love to see the credit eliminated effective July 1, 2018. Every Tesla fan should be clamoring for the same. At that point, both GM and Tesla should have exhausted their EV credits, and all EVs would be on an equal footing without

By Oxford definition and common understanding, bread uses yeast.

Flatbread lacks yeast, so is NOT “bread” by any usual definition.

There is so much wrongness going on in this thread.

A hot dog is is a grilled meat, served on a bun.

The essence of hot dog is the sausage, and the bun is unnecessary, as any German sausage platter would amply demonstrate.

A hot dog is no more a sandwich than a taco.

Subway makes “submarine sandwiches” aka “subs”. The “submarine” qualifier highlights the fact that a sub is NOT a sandwich, as it’s not sliced bread.

Qualifiers of negation are specifically what I’m talking about, such as non-alcoholic [beer], open-faced [sandwich], non-dairy [milk], and open-faced [sandwich]. The expectation is that “beer” is brewed with non-negligible alcohol content, so “alcohol-free beer” is obviously not beer, but rather beer-ish, a faux beer.

Thank you for the bruschetta example.

This also extends to pita “chips” and a meat dip, BTW, for those who wrongly claim that unleavened bread is bread.

“Flatbread” isn’t bread, any more than “tofu turkey” is turkey.

Burgers and hot dogs are fundamentally grilled meats, to be consumed as such. The bun (not sliced bread) is just so you don’t burn/dirty your hands. A burger or dog on a plate is still a burger or a dog. Have a grilled German sausage platter if you don’t believe me.

What laws were broken in 2009?

None.

People should read the contracts that they sign.

An “open-faced” sandwich is a sandwich that omits the requisite top slice, and spotlights the exception to the sandwich requirement. That is, an OFS knows that it’s not a sandwich, which is why it has to call itself an OFS instead of “a sandwich”.

It’s like you’re arguing “near bear” is beer, “lactose-free milk” is

A hamburger is sandwich-adjacent.

I read the title, and just knew this was another Kevin Pang article.

Kinda like we used to be able to identify a Mark Schrayber article by title alone.

Anyhow, Kevin is wrong, as usual. Not everything is a sandwich.

As #MeToo showed, sexual violence is almost certainly far too commonplace for the UN to address.

Psh. Babies are nothing compared to a tiny grain of sand in your kidney. Women have multiple babies, but none of them want a second kidney stone.

F1 cars pull LATERAL Gs

F1 drivers are not of “slight build”. They are lean, but they are also muscular. Their necks are very strong.

I’d love to see women gymnasts attempt the mens ring & horse exercises for comparison.

Exactly. A short dude if he’s young enough, he can pack on the muscle for explosive power to weight. A woman of equal (low) height doesn’t have the testosterone for that, so a fixed obstacle, like the 14'6" wall is a bigger problem for her.

Your neck will give out long before your arms.
