With the popularity of the Telluride (and others), dealerships can either do the right thing, or be total dicks. Apparently, quite a few choose the latter.

So, if I use the receiver hitch for a bike rack, or maybe the rear support for a canoe rack, and never for towing, not only will have have to deal with the proximity warnings, I will get letter from Tesla saying I have to remove the hitch?

You’re level-setting expectations. Maybe the responsibilities are more entry-level, so your expected salary range will at least make sure it’s in the ballpark.

Better yet, a non-stick cooking spray - similar effect, but usually vegetable-oil based, so the chemicals are less harmful
