Exactly. This notion that the best way to defeat Trump is to remove any and all scrutiny directed toward the other very bad campaign, and just agree as a contingency to pretend they’re doing a great job at this? Is incredibly disturbing.

I don’t think a single thing Stewart said last night could be characterized as implying that the two are “equally bad.” Not by any wild stretch of the imagination.
This is the path I’ve chosen as well, it’s a miracle it got greenlit, got support, and got more than one season. That we got three feels like a shocking gift.
Last season they did not do this successfully, there was too much serialization. And this season we can already see we’re going to have to keep checking back in with the missing girl story, probably a three-episode arc to end the season. It’s not a good formula for them and it’s getting worse.
One thing SVU most definitely does not need to do is serialize. The self-contained nature of each episode is exactly why it’s reliable and why people watch, and why it’s playing in the background in marathons in hospitals and hotels across the country at this very moment. I know they think serialization keeps folks…
Yes. The absence of a Huang or a Skoda on these shows is a pretty gaping hole. (And stupidly making Rollins, a woman who thought it wasn’t all that bad to kill sex workers because once she got cheated on with them, all of a sudden a leading expert on criminology is not going to fill that gap.)
All the more reason to pay closer attention to the Independent Spirit Awards this year!
I say this every year and yet every year the “oh so I guess <insert Best Picture nominee here> must’ve directed itself!” memes are rampant. But it’s built in!
France didn’t submit it (hedging that it would get a Best Picture nom). They submitted The Taste of Things.
So sorry for your loss.
That’s because the cutoff was 12/31, so anything they submitted was from the portion of the season that aired in 2023. Anything that’s aired in 2024 will only be eligible next year
Still eligible for this role next year, thankfully. My guess is she’ll submit last week’s episode.
I wonder if it essentially being a three-hander for much of the meat of it made them lean toward larger ensembles — the other nominees are pretty huge casts
And even for the Globes, she’s got something like 32 nominations and “only” 8 wins. Definitely not a winning percentage, even in baseball!
they are indeed joking
He was certainly the one who made the most facial expressions on the show
Exactly, I’d say Gina Torres is easily the most well-known of the four (and the “big name” when the show started, too)
Such a tonally challenging show, but she set the standard that I kept going back to whenever I needed the reminder.
For me, it’s more the ending of the original that was the problem (as opposed to the one they’d originally planned), not the premise itself.
Extremely sympathetic! It was bizarre. Olsen was excellent, but also miscast (look how glam!). They really worked overtime to blame the victim. It’s too bad hardly anyone watched Hulu’s version, which was much better.
