We better see Lani again! She was one of the only sympathetic characters!

Yes, it really was a spot-on depiction of a certain type of college girl. Those two were the sharpest satire of the script, I thought. (But yes, insufferable in real life.)

Yes, the fact that they were bold enough to kill off characters they’d given real arcs to that close to the end, with no cheers, no “glad that asshole’s dead,” was a notch above.

But she didn’t actually throw it -- remember she got that nosebleed, so it was like whatever supernatural force was already at work

Or another possibility, that in the real world Kevin is less sinister.

Wasn’t this the 3rd episode?

Yeah, I really feel like we don’t need an explanation -- they probably married young because they had a lot of fun together and both evolved/devolved/grew into bad habits, etc.

But why would Adrian do that??

While I agree that Marissa thinking she should just be allowed to become a lawyer without law school or passing the bar because she’s just so amazing, it definitely pushed me off that line I was on where I couldn’t tell if her outrageous sense of entitlement was annoying but funny or if I kind of hated her, I’m now on

It was extremely stressful that even after they noticed, Delroy Lindo continued to lean into the elevator shaft

I think the whole thing might literally be single camera but that the sitcom scenes are shot to look like a multi-cam show with a studio audience

I think the penultimate episode showed what the series can do, but I do think the device limited how much they could delve in prior to the latter episodes. I can understand the gimmick as a bit of a Trojan horse, though, but it’s just kind of a shame that they spent 8 episodes playing coy about what actually happened

Bill Whitaker was my favorite so far and I thought I’d browse the comments here to find a single kindred soul and alas, I have not!

Definitely smarmy, and weirdly interjects things about herself a lot. I do think her enthusiasm can be fun on occasion, but at the same time I also think it would die down so we really don’t have a sense of what kind of host she’d be long-term. (Or else she’d keep this level of enthusiasm and it would feel phonier by

I wasn’t expecting major characters who were introverts, I was just sort of bummed out by the implication that if you’re scared and queer and HIV+, participating in the balls is a mandatory initiation for community. I just wanted a quick scene of them scooping up a shy newcomer in some other context.

Oh for sure, the only reason I didn’t say I hope we see more of Billy Porter is that I feel like we’re already seeing a lot more of Billy Porter! As it should be.

Yep, it’s a style thing. In the scripts and credits, the character name is Umma. Probably a less common conceit for a TV show not adapted from a play, but a pretty typical thing to do in dramatic writing (and writing about dramatic writing, so its accurate here!).

I have no wisdom to share but wanted to add to the chorus of “this is great!”

I was thinking while I was watching that pouring ashes on the Gracie Mansion lawn in 1994 would mean Giuliani had just gotten into office... the new mayor? How involved is a mayor in national health policy anyway? Weird strategy! And then I thought I’m just ignorant of why exactly that would’ve been a great strategy.

I’m so sad this show is over and frankly sad it was Too Important to just tell good stories without the “Cover These Important Things” label slapped on the shortened final season, but it’ll certainly have a place in the TV compartment of my heart.
